Joey, just saw a picture of your name on the cnn.com gallery of 9/11 tributes. I was reminded of your smile, and your magnetic personality. I have a lot of Cheesehead friends out here (we live right on the Wisconsin border) and I have told them all about how "there was this guy back in NYC" who first introduced me to the Packers and Don Majkowski. I have lots of great memories of playing baseball with you, and I am glad that many of our friends from playing ball have kept your memory alive so I can send my Cheesehead friends to check out "that guy". Thanks for the memories Joey.

Joey, I did not know you but that's not important. What is important, your precious life at such a young age was taken from you and your family in a senseless act of hated for our people such as you and our country.
May you soul Rest in Peace, Sweet Joey.

10 years have past and as I sit here watching the ceremony on tv I realize that it hurts like it was only yesterday. I cried and cried and then I laughed when little James looked up at me and said...mom President Obama is God...he just said I am God. I thought that was so cute and then I realized that I would give anything for you to meet our family and be a part of our lives. But no matter what you will always be a big piece of our hearts. We love you very much and we miss you everyday. Love you, Marie

Big Joe, it seems like the yearly posts on your site come quicker and quicker each year as time continues to fly by. Even after 10 years, it's amazing how much you are still ingrained in so many people's minds and spirits. That is the true testament to who you were - a true one of a kind with a heart of gold. May the Lord be with you and your family on this day and throughout the years.

My cuz, you are always missed and loved and will never be forgotten! Your smile shines and lights up the darkest of hours. I know you are engaging in some big time partying up there and continue to look over us. I love you!

Sunday -- May 1, 2011:

The Joey Doyle Bulldogs take the field for the 1st time, winning their inaugural contest - with the season dedicated to #34's honor.

Coincidentally enough (?) hours later, the U.S. finally caught up w/Bin-Laden.

While many reading this would shake their head and chuckle at the thought of something like that correlating, friends of Joey Doyle who played that day can tuck it away in their back pocket to hold as another of the great memories associated with you.

So many other things happened throughout the course of this season that had us stopping to think you were playing tricks on the opposition - ask Petey, he'll gladly give you the rundown.

We're still waiting to finish the championship round, as bad weather has kept us from doing so. Thanks for keeping an eye on us - we're all prouder than proud to be Bulldogs.

.....and to let others who never had the privilege of knowing you know what you were all about.

Thinking of the Doyle Family today. Joey will never be forgotten.
