Hey Big Joe. It's been a year and I still can't believe you were taken away from us. You were a pleasure to be around......always made me laugh. I had a great time whenever I hung out with you. And you were the best teammate I ever had even though I only had the pleasure of playing college ball with you for one year. Your the best JD. We all miss ya.

Big JD,
As you can see by this ever growing tribute, you are deeply missed. There really was nobody like you. Everyone knew you, and if they didn't, you better believe they heard of you. That is just the type of guy that you were, everybody LOVED BIG JD. You were not just the life of every party, YOU WERE the party. We miss and love you big guy.
Tony B

And yes Joe, I am as amazed as you that Paturzo actually has some other skill besides partying. This site is awesome, great job Bri.

Dear Joe,
You were always the guy in high school who made me smile... yours was contagious. And everyday when I think about you and the rest of those innocent people who were also taken from us, I think about that smile. It's probably the only thing that reassures me that you're okay today. You are a beautiful soul. Thank you for watching over all of us now & keeping us safe. You'll be forever missed & never, ever forgotten for a moment. I love you.

Joey -
You were always Doreen's little brother to me - the same age, and full of as much life as my little brother. I did not get to know you the way so many others did, but I think I know you now. I know you through your mom's stories, her kindness and her tears. I know you through you dad's words of praise and his strength. I know you through Doreen's laughter and her daughters' beauty. I know you through all of your friends who so obviously love and miss you. But most of all I know you through Billy. I have never known a brother who cherished his friendship and brotherhood the way he does. His eyes light up every time he mentions you. I look forward to hearing a nightly "Joey" story. We tell everyone how you got us together from Heaven. I will forever be indebted to you for bringing me to your brother that night and for helping me find him after his horrible directions! Your love for your brother guided two lost souls to unite and become one. Thank you. I can not get over the impact you had on everyone, even people who never knew you until now -just look at these tributes from around the country and the world!! I know you can feel all of our love. I am honored to join your remarkable family and I am so proud that you will soon be my little brother as well.

Joey,
Never could I have imagined that 12 years ago in high school I would have met one of my best friends and never could I have imagined that in one day someone would take you away from me. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of you or want to pick up the phone to call you. I used to feel cheated and upset about how life would be without you in our circle of friends but then I realized that we all have a lifetime of memories to help us through. I want to thank you for being my friend and for bringing so much happiness to my life in many ways. Most of all thank you for bringing Jimmy into my life. There are so many special occasions coming up and you will be missed tremendously but I know you will be there in our hearts. I miss you Joey and I love you.

We are your neighbors and although we have never met Joey, and only spoke to his father once or twice, after visiting this website we feel as if we knew him or should we say we wish we had. We were blown away at the mass by the show of people and the words spoken, we know he must have been a very special person. Although way too short, your family was lucky to have shared your lives with him. There are no words to express our sorrow for your loss and that of all the other families. Our hearts and prayers go out to you. The Benigno Family

Joey,

I cannot believe that it has been one year since I last saw you. Not a day goes by that I don't think about or pray for you, your family and your friends. I feel like it was just yesterday that you were waving to me from the stage at Djais while wearing that big straw hat, crazy colored tie and bright orange shirt. You always had me laughing.

I just celebrated my b-day and can remember celebrating it with you last year down at the shore. That was the first time that my brother and Lynne found out about us, you were so scared that Pete was going to be upset with you.

That was the kind of person that Joey was, always thinking of others. I am so lucky that I got to know the kind and sweet person that you were. Thank you for the memories I will treasure them FOREVER!

Love, Patricia

There is not a day that goes by that I do not think of you. I will always remember you and how you made me laugh, from the time we were little until now. I just put flowers and candles in front of your house...the angel was to remind you that you are our guardian angel...I know you were there watching us, I could feel your presence. Continue to watch over your family and friends. Just remember that we all miss you and love you more than words can say. Rest in peace...until we meet again my friend.

Today I think all of America feels a deeper sense of loss, maybe time has lifted the shock and we are feeling the depth of this tragedy...

To Joey's Dad... I will remember your son when I look at my own sons, both so close in age to Joey. My heart goes out to you.

I only hungout with you a few times but they were fun times. I have one good memory of the time we all went to bar 13. You hung up your leather jacket and when you went to get it it was gone. You were so mad because your mother had just bought it for you. You weren't worried that you were going to freeze outside in the snow. You were just worried about how mad your mom was going to be when she found out. You were a great guy and you are truly missed. My prayers go out to your friends and family.

I met Joey only several times, but sitting next to his brother Billy at work for several years and hearing the countless stories of their escapades together, along with the kind words of others who knew him (Larry Latner telling me JD is the "man", et al), I feel that I can say that I am blessed to know JD. I remember thinking to myself back then that through the impression that was formed by listening to Bill's kind words and family anecdotes, the Doyle family must be very special, one that the world needs more of. He has touched all in so short an amount of time, and still elicits smiles from all whom he touches to this day. My thoughts, prayers, and best wishes go out to all of his family and friends.

p.s. - Bill, I know that Joe is very proud of your accomplishments, and treasures the bond between you two guys. What other bunch of crazy brothers both had a perchance for "interesting" hats?

9/11/02 - one year later already. Joey, my rememberances of you are as clear today as they ever were. If anything, they get clearer as each day passes and I think of you more...though often, I purposely try not to. Your presence is still and will always be felt when your friends are together. Hi, I also saw Joey's Dad and Mom this morning, needless to say I was glued to the T.V. this morning , and was late for work, I wanted to be where I was on this date 9-11-01 @ 8:45am (in the bathroom dressing ) . I thought about my 2 Teenage sons this morning who are extremely shy at 15 and 17 and I pray for them to one day have the same zest and zeal for life as your Joey did, and for them to one day know, what it's really like to let your light shine in the world. May Joey continue to be a beacon of light to those who knew him and to those who now have the pleasure of knowing of him, and May God contiue to bless you and yours .

Joey,
I can not even believe that it has been a whole year. It seems like you're still here and I just havn't seen you in a while. I miss you so much. You truly are one of the greatest people I ever met in my whole life. I will never forget you and I know in my heart you are watching over all of us.

Hi! I saw Joey's dad on TV this morning and I just wanted to say that my prayers are with his family.
Joey seemed like the kind of person everyone would want to know. You all were so lucky to have him.

Try to find a person who's not smiling along with Doyle in those pictures - this website just begins to scratch the surface on what a great guy he was.

You're missed 34, and without a doubt, will NEVER be forgotten.

We get Fox News over here in England on Digital TV, and I saw Joey's father on Fox News this morning.
Although I never knew Joey and I live the other side of the ocean I would just like to say that Joey's father's words were heartfelt and after visiting this website I can see how much joy he bought to the lives of those who knew him.
I visited NYC in Dec 2000 and during my vacation I visited the WTC, my thoughts and prayers are with you. God Bless.

My daughter, 28, just called me at 7 a.m. and said she just felt so emotional this morning thinking of when she went to work last 9/11, and how the people who went to work in the World Trade Towers and the Pentagon, and all those people on the planes, had no idea what would happen just an hour later.

I had just seen Joey's dad on Fox News Channel. When the web site came up, it really hit me, too.....Joey Doyle was born on MY birthday. My eyes are uncontrollably wet, reliving my remembrance of 9/11.....and feeling the pain in my heart for the real people who died, their families, our nation.....because of the utter hatred and blind insanity that dominates the hearts of some religious fanatics.

No one can honestly claim that GOD would motivate so many people to kill like that.....whether for a different religious philosophy, for jealousy, or just to make a point. No....those whose hearts are so saturated with hatred and so controlled by fanaticism are NOT submissive to GOD, but to the devil himself. They are his pawns.....and they don't even know it. They do not even control their own minds. They are robots.....programmed to kill and hate.

Terrorism must be dealt with from a political position, yet the fact remains.....for their to be peace in the world, there must be peace in our hearts. As long as Satan controls the hearts of men, there will be evil in the world. Let us pray not for world peace, but for peace and freedom in our individual hearts.

Just saw Joey's Dad on Fox News Channel and was touched by his love for his son. One year later, the pain is still palpable. I pray that all who loved Joey will find some comfort in the public memorials today....although I didn't have the pleasure of knowing Joey, I can see that he was special. I'm sorry this tribute was necessary but I thank you for sharing him with me.
