Sunday was great, and as always so many faces from the good old days. Really is like no time has passed and I almost expect to see you right next to some of these characters.
I know you were with us and always are.. you must be laughing up there at the Yankees right now, but you know me- I'm not one of these fairweather fans. But I do appreciate that you let them win on Sunday so that we arent completely pathetic like some other teams.
As always I miss you very much and know that you are watching over all of us.
Love always and In All Ways,
Mariss

Hey Joey,

You packed in another bar, pal. Everyone from all stages of your life showed up- it was a GREAT TIME.

Its amazing and a great tribute to you that so many people show up and want to be part of a special day for a great guy.

After seeing some of the antics that went on and knowing everyone is ok- we are sure you are watching over us all.

I just wanted to send out a thank you to everyone that made this year the best tribute celebration yet. I wish that everyone in the world could have the amazing friends my brother did. If you bet the Packers for him last night he is sendind a message to stop gambling. The family owes everyone that attends a great deal of gratitude. Thank you

Hey Joe,

Think about you often, especially when I run into Pete and the gang. And of course when football season comes around. Do me a favor have the Pack rain down a beating on Eli and the G-men this week and clear the way for my Boys this year.

Miss you pal.

Joe,

Thinking of you and your family today. I work across the street from the WTC and I think of you often as I walk to work. We werent close friends in high school but the times we did hang out you were always such a sweet guy. The last time i saw you was in DJais in the summer of 2001 - we had a drink at the bar together :) I am sure your family knows this already, but they raised a wonderful son and this site is proof of that. I know that no amount of time will ever heal their loss, so always remember to send them signs to let them know you are still around them. Heaven got another angel when you left this Earth. Please say hello to my brother for me! :)

I know your father through the 9-11 network and I have heard many stories about you from your numerous friends. You have left a very amazing legacy behind along with a wonderful family.
I hope you have met and seen my best friend and brother in law Steven Hagis up there because he enjoyed life like you did although his love of sports was basketball and baseball
May you always be in Gods Grace and may he give everyone who knows you the peace and strength to live everyday as you did. May God continue to bless your family on this tough day and always

In my prayers

Joe,
6 years has come and gone and I still cant believe it. I think it will always be like yesterday to us. The weather is terrible today and I think thats how it should be.
The funniest things will happen and I think of you. I even somehow wonder if you make them happen. You are very much present in my life and I am sure you get a kick out of all that goes on down here. You have cultivated so many friendships that, like your legacy, will last forever. I miss you, and your family is always in my thoughts and in my prayers.

What'ss up Joe,
Can't believe that its been six years. Feels like yesterday when we came back from the shore on Sept 9th to watch football in your basement. Good times. Til this day you still have the curse on the Yankees and I'm sure your screaming at Pettite's cutter every time he pitches. How about a Dodger/Yankees world series?? Thanks for looking over us!! Miss you, guy!

Man, this morning when I was heading into work, I was thinking to myself that it still feels like yesterday when you and I were playing R.B.I baseball down the shore and we were exchanging names back and forth of 1980's scrub players! Rafael Santana, Steve Trout, Wayne Tollenson, Danny Heep. Do I need to go on? Miss you man.

Hey Joe,

Its been six years, but it seems like yesterday when thinking back at some of the fun times. I guess my top memory would have to be Pete's bachelor party and how hysterical you were.

I think now of how ahead of your time on Football Sundays you were- now everyone is looking to throw 3 or 4 tvs in a basement and enjoy a nice football day. We try to mimic it and just have some fun with all the guys together. The tradition you started is what keeps us all together especially now as everyone's lives are changing.

My prayers go out to you and your family especially on today. You are deeply missed and will always be in our hearts and will always be the main character in all the hilarious stories that are told.

So, the Dodgers are 2½ games back of the Padres in the Wild-Card -- and who's keeping them in the middle of it all?

Boomer Wells -- perfect game through 6 the other day vs. the hated Giants.

Anytime I've seen Wells on the hill over the years, I've thought of Big JD.

Although Joey was a helluva lot more good lookin' than Boomer (and right-handed), he shared alot of the same qualities.

Always keepin' things light in the dugout, blasting music in the locker room before or after a game, goin' out and havin' a great time with his friends and teammates...

And no matter what condition he was in in the morning, he'd go out and throw you a gem.

I read Wells' book a few years ago, and it made me think of the days we were playin' ball together at Wagner.

"Perfect, I'm Not: Boomer on Beer, Brawls, Backaches and Baseball".

Replace the name Boomer with "Doyle" -- and maybe add in some hip-hop and wrestling talk -- and you have our pal Joe. A pefect game, or night every time he was out.

We miss ya, pal. -- PK

What's up, Joe? Can't believe it's been 6 years already. I still get that weird feeling when this date comes as I can vividly remember spending a week out of town and out of touch with everything that was going on, only being able to watch the news channels all day and wondering and hoping. I'll never forget that hopeless feeling but more importantly, as everybody says time and time again, I'll never forget you and your place in my life. Joseph is now nearly 19 months old and he has the dance moves. James is nearing the end of his first month and it's getting pretty crazy in the house but we love it. I hope you enjoy watching their antics like we enjoyed watching yours. We love you.

JD,

What’s up big guy? Its crazy how much time has gone by. It feels like yesterday when I was looking up and seeing what was going on and wondering whether you would be ok. Now I know you are in a better place. You probably have hair and are ripped, no juice of course. I cant but wonder if you have a collection of those awful shirts you used to buy from the street corner guy.

Things are pretty good we added several more haddons to the bunch. The shore is still popular and a nice getaway. Your name still comes up when we discuss various things. We still think about how you would embrace some of the ridiculous things we do. Ummm yeahhhh!

Be cool man and watch out for Football Sunday, Turzo has been planning it since the last one ended a year ago.

Miss ya

Hey buddy, 6 years have passed and it seems that as I drove by Wagner today thinking about seeing you outside Spiro Hall asking if you were going to Applebee's on New Dorp to go watch the games tonight, was just only yesterday. Those monday nights were great and everytime I walk in there, it seems like your there at the round table by the bar having a nice cold brutus. Your boy Bdunn had a nice showing yesterday in fantasy so you should be proud, but even more proud of the picture of him and Brittany Spears. Well as I always say and pray for every year since that day, that you watch over all of us, your family, your friends and future friends and family that will develop as they learn about you and the impact that you had on every one of us. Because you had an impact on mine and I can't thank you enough! Well just letting you know, October 7th I will be attending a wedding but not after enjoying the Jets-Giants game and having a few cold ones with everyone. Love ya brah!

Hey Joey,

Today is a hard day for me. I keep looking at the calendar and seeing 9/11 and I get tears in my eyes. I really miss you so much. I am sure alot of things would be so much different if you were still around. I wish I had a chance to party with you down Belmar. But, I feel like you are still with us after hearing stories and talking about you all the time. I am just lucky I had the chance to know you at Wagner. From watching you read the newspaper in the hawks nest to complaining to eachother about games while we were in our uniforms. I will never forget those days.

Love you buddy and will never forget or stop thinking about you.

XOXO

Dear JD,

We’ve been friends and neighbors for many years. I remember third grade when we used to watch Bozo the clown on satilite while we waited for your mom to drive us to school. You’d get restless and would sit on your dog Bandit. There were kick the can marathons and championship games of wiffel ball in front of your house. Summers taken in perfectly. You really had a way of bringing together the whole neighborhood.

Even though we went to the same high school, we would have our own clicks, running into each other occasionally in the halls of Sea or sometimes at Fox beach. But college would separate us even further and we would no longer be neighbors, and our friendship would fade.

Then came the magical summer of 2000 and we would once again be neighbors, this time in the shore town of Manasquan, NJ. And once again you had a way of bringing together everyone in the neighborhood, still with wiffle ball but now followed by your famous Happy Hour. It would be a great summer.

I always respected how you would wear Hawaiian shirts down there (something I was also known for). You understood that we weren’t simply “hanging at the jersey shore”. We were on vacation. Manasquan would be paradise.

I fell asleep on the beach on one of the last Sunday’s of the summer of 2001. I wandered back to discover everyone in my house was long gone. I walked over to your place hoping you were still there, and sure enough you were hanging out on your porch, taking in the last of summer while the amateurs had all called it quits.

You drove me home. We stopped at 7/11 and you introduced me to “bakery sticks”. We made it back to the Island, and as another excellent summer in paradise was coming to a close, we said our goodbyes and swore to do it all again next year. That would be the last memory we would have together.

Joey, you had it all figured out, and when I forget how great life is, I need only to think of you.

Dear Joseph,
i just want to let you know that at approx. 2:57am on March 18, 2007; i was intrusted with something that i very sure is very important to you. Worth more then gold, any sick watch, or insane whip. Now Joe i didn't ask for it, i just asked your boy bdunn if you had something in there. He said, "You know what just take it." Honestly i'm a little nervous. Yes your CD collection. I promise to give it back in the condition i got it in. you're not even going to know i was there. As i flip through i can't believe that you have everything. the next time i see you after flipping through, i'm going to have a few questions for you like, What's your favorite biggie song?, You're really repping the east, you got some of the south, no love for the west coast? I'm real surpised there's no pac in there., What possessed you to buy the second heltah skeltah cd? Anyway i just want to let you know we always think about you, and love hearing stories where you are the main character.
thanks for everything and i promise i treat the cds like they're my own.

Yes, Joe. It's true that TD beat me in the Finals but I have to confess - interest was waning in the JD Memorial League due to my consistent dominance and in the interest of fairness and the continued success of the league, I threw the game.

Yes, Tommy fielded a good lineup and had some strong performances but come on..we both know the deal.

Only thing that would have made it better was having you there. I do feel your presence and this year was extra special bc it was at 'wacky tabacci'. I think about you often. You are missed and loved by so many. You & I first met when we were kids and our sisters danced in dancing school together. We met up again as teens when our brothers played baseball together. Finally, we entered Sea together and began a unique friendship. Within our 4 years at Sea,
together we laughed and cried. It's been 5 years and it still feels like yesterday. You were taken too soon from us. You and I hadn't seen each other in a while. We ran into each other at the shore in August--one month before 9/11. Of course you had me laughing! I often think that we were meant to run into each other that day and am so glad we did. I have many photos and stories to keep your memory alive. God Bless you and your family always!!!

Hi Joe, not sure what to say it seems like yesterday we grew up together playing basketball i was always terrible but thats cool you still passed me the ball. Joe no one will ever forget you and what you lived for and died for. Your one of the many heros of this tragic day but you did not pass on in vain. Your friends and family keep you alive and well and I am proud to say I grew up with you and even though we went our seperate ways through the years I still remember the fun times we had as kids. Joe I am getting married Saturday so I was wondering if you could do Melissa and me a favor and send us your blessing watch over us and give us some beautiful weather. Thanks again for all you have done for so many people. God bless you and your family and God Bless America. We will never forget you and all the other heros. Your old pal Greg Diaz

Joey, the most amazing thing happened to me this morning. I was listening to the radio, thinking of you (as people were calling in with tributes) and I was crying. The radio went silent at 8:46 when the first plane hit in a moment of silence. I changed the radio and what did I hear? saturday night fever! That is the song that reminds me of you! I still remember you doing the John Travolta dance to cheer me up at Atlantis one night. It was almost as if you were saying "Don't be sad, I'm still looking down at all of ya" It made me smile, but made me miss you even more. How I wish you were in my car singing at the top of your lungs again. I miss that! Just wanted to let you know you are missed and thought about often. Save me a seat... I'll meet up with you again.

I don't think that Jimmy and I can express enough to Joseph James how special his Uncle Joey was and still is to us and everyone. We will try hard everyday to let him know what a wonderful, crazy & fun friend we had for some many years. We will LOVE YOU and THINK about you ALWAYS...Marie

5 years later, my thoughts and prayers are still with the Doyle family. I still can't comprehend just how many quality individuals were taken from us on 9-11...with JD being at the absolute top of that list.

I have one request: (being that you bled Dodger Blue) let's keep it on a level playing field when we meet up with you in the NLCS. No intervention, please.

You already had the Heat win this year...it's about time the Mutts get theirs.

Hey Joey. Been thinking about you the last few days as I'm sure everybody else has. The first thing I did this morning was look for your name on the news and I got chills when I saw it. I then gave my son a big hug and a kiss thinking about how precious life is. I'll always remember your love of life and will try to instill that in my son. My love to your family.

It's something special to see everyone take time out to remember such a special person. You really touched so many lives. It's amazing how 5 years has passed and how our circle has grown and changed. The truth is with you gone the circle will never again be whole. We can only ask that you watch over us and keep us safe.

5 years had gone by and I can still picture our last closing party at djais like it was yesterday. As you can see I am still going there. Joey, we've been watching the past few hours of memorial coverage on TV and a few minutes ago, they said your name and showed your picture and it still feels like something is just very wrong. You were taken way before your time but in your 25 years, you accomplished a great deal and affected many lives, especially mine. Your family and all your friends miss you but will always find ways to celebrate you. My son, Joseph James, may be on his way to being as crazy as you are, with your guidance.

We love you and know you are very happy right now.

Hey brah, not a good showing yesterday by your Packers, but not much to expect from the youngest team in the league. Anyways, just wanted to tell you that your dearly missed and that this summer was something you would have been proud of, I know for a fact the whole "take your pants off" idea would have been something that you surely would have enjoyed. I know your in good hands and I pray for your family and friends that they stay in good health. Lata bro!

Well Joe, I'm guessing you're pretty giddy about the Heat winning the championship although the roster doesn't have Rony Seikaly, Jon Sundvold, or Kevin Edwards anymore. I know you love your Dirk Nowitzki but you were also the very first true Heat fan that didn't live in Miami. I can't believe your team beat the Knicks to a championship but if it made you happy, then I'm fine with it.....you haddon!

Joe,
I really felt you were with us on Sunday at Joseph James' Christening. At one point toward the end of the night (after many Heineken nips) it was almost like you were there. I wonder sometimes if you are but that we just cant see you. Marie and Jimmy were so good to name the baby after you and he is the cutest. I told Jimmy that though he looks like Marie, the only important thing is that is GOOD LOOKING!!! I know you agree. Your nieces are gorgeous too and Ashley looks just like you and "Big Bill"

I pray for your family every Sunday at church and I think of you every day. Please look over all of us and keep us laughing. You are missed more than anyone in the world.

I know you were so proud of Ashley and your beautiful nieces on Saturday when she received her 1st Communion. It was great to celebrate the day with your family and see how much they've all grown up. It felt really nice to be there and hang with with all the Dunns and also to introduce Joseph James to so many people. And I know you had to love the Hawaiian that JJ rocked!

We all felt your presence at the party as well as each day that passes. Keep having a blast up there and watching over us.
